Serious ransomware attack on Canvas - a learning mangement system

Shinyhunters - an extortion group - claimed credit for a ransomware attack that impacted 9,000 institutions, and claim to have stolen 280 million records from Canvas's parent company Instructure. The attack limited access to Canvas' services, and threatened to release the stolen data if a ransom was not paid. Instructure ultimately paid the ransom, against law enforcement advice.
