Victoria introduces new rules for facial recognition in state schools

Following trials of 'LoopLearn', an Australian start-up who sell facial recognition scanners to monitor attendance, in Victorian independent schools - Victoria have introduced much tighter rules for schools who want to introduce facial recognition. 

Now, any state that wants to implement the technology will have to get proper consent from parents or carers, students, approval from the Department for Education, and doing a thorough privacy impact assessment.
