Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) became the first university in Russia to deploy a large-scale campus-wide video surveillance and facial recognition system. Implemented with support from Sberbank, VisionLabs, and Tekhnozreniye, the project introduced 24/7 monitoring across university buildings using cameras, data-processing servers, and the FASystem platform. University officials stated that the initiative was designed to strengthen campus security and improve the protection of students, staff, and visitors.

A notable aspect of the project is the use of facial recognition technology developed by VisionLabs. The system uses the LUNA SDK platform to identify individuals in real time by comparing facial images against the university's database. When a person is detected, the system provides the university's Situation Center with information including their name, role, photograph, and location, allowing operators to monitor different groups such as students, teachers, and administrative staff. According to the developers, the facial recognition capability was integrated into the university's security and access-control infrastructure to enhance situational awareness and campus safety.
