Concerns raised by parent over facial recognition in middle school
A parent in Badong County has complained about Jingxin Youyi Middle School - a local middle school - implementing a facial recognition system to manage on-campus purchases.
The system is the Alipay One Face Pass system, which - the school claimed - was deployed as part of China's Smart Campus initiative. The parent complained that the system is compulsory and coverage of the complaint included concerns that the privacy risks of such a system were too high.
