School becomes first in Malaysia to introduce facial recognition for attendance
The SK Taman Perling 1 school became the first in Malaysia to use facial recognition to take attendance. The headteacher told the New Straits Times that two facial recognition scanners had been installed for pupils to use and another for staff, and that all 1,034 students and 88 staff would use the system.
The system claims to 'only' take 2 seconds to complete a scan, and the registration data will be transferred to the Education Ministry.
